Andrew Thomas Wiggin,[8] usually known by his nickname Ender Wiggin, was a Battle Schoolhouse Educatee, the commander of Dragon Army,[1] and subsequently a Speaker for the Dead.[2] He is the primary protagonist of the Ender Quintet, and was first introduced in Ender'due south Game.

History

Early Life

Andrew Wiggin was built-in in 11 BX to Theresa and John Paul Wiggin. He was their third child, his older siblings beingness Peter and Valentine. Third Formic War

Ender went to Command Schoolhouse on the asteroid Eros. He was introduced to the simulator, where he was to exercise commanding the homo armada heading to the Formic Homeworld. There, he met Mazer Rackham, the state of war hero who defeated the Formics in the Second Invasion. He was taught about strategy, and how the Formics thought.[1]

After practicing on the simulator alone for a few weeks, he began to practice with his Jeesh, assigning them certain commander roles on the simulator.[1]

The twenty-four hour period of the "Graduation Boxing", Ender and his Jeesh were faced against an insurmountable Formic fleet. On the same planet lived a boy named Randall Firth, who was the ninth kid of Bean and Petra Arkanian. Randall had acquired some problems for Ganges and its governor. During Ender and Valentine's journeying, Ender had decided to stay in Stasis, while Valentine opted to write a history of Shakespeare colony. Upon arrival at Ganges, Ender sought out Randall, hoping to tell him about his real parents.[5]

Their confrontation grew violent every bit Ender tried to tell Randall of his true parentage. Randall was disgusted at the thought that his "male parent'due south" killer was his real father. Benedetto revealed that he knew Andrew was Ender the Xenocide, and threatened to expose it to the newsnets. Andrew asked for proof, and when Benedetto pulled up his voyage log he found that they were blanked by Jane. Benedetto grumbled and gave Andrew a laissez passer for his taxes and his stay on Sorelledolce.[10]

Afterward Benedetto published an essay exposing Andrew as the Xenocide, Jane also fastened an essay exposing Benedetto's blackmailing. Andrew was brought in by the police for questioning, simply it was but a formality. In prison, Benedetto was killed by someone he had fabricated an enemy of. After leaving Sorelledolce, Andrew and Valentine traveled to Rov, where citizens of the planet first saw Andrew wearing the Cifi unit in his ear that connected him to Jane. This was the beginning planet where Andrew had his occupation listed as a Speaker for the Dead.[5]

Almost 100 years afterward, Valentine heard near the individual Kenneth Argon on the planet of Catalunya. She sought to write a biography on him, and and so she and Andrew traveled to the planet. While en road, Argon was killed and the proconsul of the planet, Dabeet Ochoa, called for a Speaker for the Dead to help calm down the agitated inhabitants of the planet. Later on arriving, Andrew and Valentine investigated Argon'southward death and his relation to the pseudo-sentient Llop.[xi] They afterward left the planet and continued their relativistic travel.[2]
