Growing up I had never attended a party or event that offered appetizers.
Finger and party food were always on a potluck scale and the idea of small bite appetizers never occurred to me as an actual thing.
It wasn't until years later, after I grew up, moved away from home and got myself a big world job, that experienced this.
It was eye opening to go to a party where there were people who walked around with a silver platter of bite sized appetizers, offering them to guests throughout the evening.
I always enjoyed sneaking to the kitchen, chatting with the chef and snagging a few hot fresh and ready appetizers.
This is when my love of appetizers began.
I loved the idea of little snack sized food that you can enjoy.
Because of my Love Love relationship with all things bread, Crostini's & Bruschettas became an instant love of mine.
These little toasts have fresh seasonal fruits and veggies on top that offer a tiny crunch!

Because I love little slices of french bread with yummy toppings, this Pear & Prosciutto Bruschetta is an obvious choice for a party appetizer.
These bites start off with a lightly toasted slice of french bread, topped with creamy blue cheese.
Next comes a mixture of pears, balsamic vinegar, onions and thyme.
Lastly, it's all topped with diced prosciutto.
The flavor combination of the blue cheese, pears and prosciutto are fantastic and the entire dish is easy to prep ahead of time.
Because I love easy party appetizers so much, it is not uncommon for me to make them for lunch.

The perfect time to enjoy pears at their maximum potential is during the winter months.
This is when they are fresh, juicy and melt in your mouth.
My picky children have always fussed at the idea of eating pears.
But this year, one of them finally decided to try them.
As expected, he loved it.
So much so that he kept asking for more and quickly ate everything I had!
I love when that happens.
It's days like that where I celebrate the moment.
Pears are by far one of my favorite winter fruits and I'm so glad that I now have one child on board with me!
